British actor and award-winning voice artist Tom Fairfoot grew up in Wales and trained at the Webber Douglas Academy and Goldsmiths, University of London. He has worked throughout the UK, South Africa and internationally.

Tom is perhaps best known in the UK for playing Eddie in the award-winning musical Blood Brothers, on its first UK National Tour and in London’s West End. He performed opposite David Cassidy, Helen Reddy, Stefan Dennis, Clodagh Rodgers, Denise and Bernie Nolan, Lyn Paul, and many others.

In South Africa, Tom played Detective Gavin Archer, the lead role in e.tv’s popular series Gold Diggers. He has also played impactful leading roles in Scandal!, Isidingo and 7de Laan, alongside dozens of recurring roles across South African drama series and soaps.

He has appeared in more than 40 international film and television productions, working alongside Hilary Swank, Lee Pace, Ben Schnetzer and Rhona Mitra, among many others. He has played leading roles in several independent films, most recently the action film Lost Horizon, now streaming on global platforms.

Tom has worked extensively in improvisation and physical theatre with the creators of Théâtre de l’Ange Fou in Paris, and with Theatre Works, a musical-improvisation group of West End performers. This culminated in his role as narrator in Andrew Macbean’s original West End musical production of Tom Waits’ Rain Dogs. He was also part of Joe Parker’s comedy-improvisation team, led improvisation workshops, performed with many of South Africa’s leading comedians, and worked as a stand-up comic.

He has trained extensively in martial arts, unarmed-combat styles and weapons handling, and holds a handgun proficiency certificate.

Tom has played leading Shakespeare roles in Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo and Juliet, The Taming of the Shrew and Hamlet, among numerous other theatre productions during more than a decade in repertory theatre and on tour throughout the UK. In South Africa, he played Jake in the acclaimed two-hander comedy Stones in His Pockets, and Jerry in Pinter’s Betrayal at Johannesburg’s Sandton Theatre on the Square.

Producer / Writer

Tom set up and ran a successful actors’ agency, introducing more efficient payment and marketing methods while training new talent in the South African voice industry. He was resident writer on e.tv youth soap Backstage and wrote for the absurdist comedy series On the Couch, broadcast on SABC3 from 2008 to 2012. He also created the comedy pilot and series Space Africa, which attracted interest from several production companies and broadcaster M-Net, although it was not green-lit.

He wrote and produced the short film A Soldier’s Story on the Falklands, which received special selection at the Palm Springs Festival in 2001 and was later broadcast by BBC Wales. He also wrote, produced and presented Making Moviesfor Channel 4, a review of the original Raindance Festival in the 1990s. He currently works with independent filmmakers as a writer-producer. His latest completed paranormal script is The Pandora Effect.
